Abstract

The value of exports through loading ports in the Sumatera Utara region in May 2024 increased compared to April 2024, namely from US$697.13 million to US$869.13 million or an increase of 24.67 percent. When compared with May 2023, Sumatera Utara's exports increased by 3.80 percent.

The category of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value in May 2024 compared to April 2024 was the various chemical products category, which increased by US$40.43 million (42.30%), followed by the animal/vegetable fats & oils group, which increased by US$36, 46 million (14.18%) and the food industry waste/waste category increased by US$ 19.53 million (47.72%). There was no category of goods that experienced a decline in export value among the 10 main categories of goods.

Exports to China in May 2024 were the largest, namely US$138.97 million, followed by the United States at US$107.70 million and Japan at US$64.37 million with the contribution of the three reaching 35.79 percent.

According to the group of main export destination countries in May 2024, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US$326.91 million (37.61%).
