Abstract

In April 2024, year on year (y-on-y) inflation in North Sumatra Province will be 3.96 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.59. The highest inflation occurred in Labuhanbatu Regency at 5.78 percent with a CPI of 110.41 and the lowest occurred in Deli Serdang Regency at 3.42 percent with a CPI of 106.07.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index for all expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 8.86 percent; clothing and footwear group at 2.21 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.55 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group at 1.24 percent; health group at 1.08 percent; transportation group at 1.24 percent; information, communication and financial services group at 0.17 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.63 percent; education group at 1.54 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 1.75 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 4.22 percent.

The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate is 0.04 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate is 1.49 percent.
