Abstract

In February 2025, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in Sumatera Utara Province was 0.73 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.64. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Pematang Siantar City at 1.93 percent with a CPI of 108.53, while the lowest y-on-y inflation occurred in Karo Regency at 0.13 percent with a CPI of 107.27.
•The y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by an increase in the index of most expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 3.81 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.09 percent; household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group by 0.31 percent; health group by 2.22 percent; transportation group by 1.54 percent; information, communication and financial services group by 0.27 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 1.20 percent; education group by 1.04 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 2.03 percent; and personal care and other services group by 8.60 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced deflation were the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 10.78 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate was 0.63 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) deflation rate was 0.57 percent.
