Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
In July 2023, the NTP for North Sumatra Province (2018=100) was recorded at 122.33, up 0.11 percent compared to the NTP in June 2023, which was 122.19.
The increase in July 2023 NTP was caused by an increase in three sub-sectors, namely the NTP in the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.14 percent, the NTP in the Horticulture sub-sector by 1.52 percent, and the NTP in the People's Plantation Plants sub-sector by 0.19 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of two other sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP of the Livestock sub-sector by 1.29 percent and the NTP of the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.52 percent.
The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in July 2023 was 120.18, an increase of 0.28 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
