Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.

In April 2024, the NTP for North Sumatra Province (2018=100) was recorded at 133.32 or an increase of 0.49 percent compared to the NTP in March 2024, which was 132.67.

The increase in NTP in April 2024 was caused by an increase in the NTP of three subsectors, namely the NTP in the People's Plantation Crops subsector by 1.72 percent, the NTP in the Livestock subsector by 1.40 percent, and the NTP in the Fisheries subsector by 0.42 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of two other subsectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP of the Food Crops subsector by 1.51 percent and the NTP of the Horticulture subsector by 4.00 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in April 2024 was 133.53 or an increase of 0.37 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
