Abstract

• Production growth of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry of Sumatera Utara Province in second quarter of 2018 increased by 10.53 percent compared to the same period in 2017 (y-on-y). The increase was mainly due to the growth of food industry production by 21.18 percent, rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 18.46 percent, and wood industry, wood and cork goods (excluding furniture), bamboo plaited goods, rattan of 16.32 percent.

• The growth of production of large and medium manufacturing industries (q-to-q) of Sumatera Utara Province in second quarter of 2018 increased by 1.94 percent compared to the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in the first quarter of 2018. Type of industry that experienced an increase in industry wood, wood and cork and bamboo plaited goods, rattan of 21.87 percent, beverage industry 15.94 percent, and basic metal industry by 11.35 percent.

• Production growth of micro and small manufacturing industries of Sumatera Utara Province in the second quarter of 2018 increased by 9.86 percent compared to the same period in 2017 (y-on-y). Types of industries that experienced an increase include printing and reproduction media recording industry by 39.37 percent, repair and installation services of machinery and equipment by 30.34 percent and apparel industry by 27.39 percent.

• Production growth of micro and small manufacturing industries of Sumatera Utara Province in quarter II-2018 increased by 10.01 percent compared to quarter I-2018 (q-to-q). Type of industry that experienced an increase among others leather and leather goods and footwear industry by 25.55 percent, apparel industry by 23.36 percent, and chemical and chemical goods industries by 18.25 percent.
