Abstract

The export value through loading ports in the North Sumatra region in January 2025 decreased compared to December 2024, namely from US$988.90 million to US$919.5 million or decreased by 7.02 percent. When compared to January 2024, North Sumatra's exports increased by 24.99 percent.
The group of goods that experienced the largest decrease in January 2025 compared to December 2024 was the aluminum group, which decreased by US$20.92 million (-50.42%) followed by the group of various chemical products, which decreased by US$11.57 million (-7.68%). The group of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value was the animal/vegetable fats & oils group, which increased by US$15.09 million (4.50%) and followed by the group of various soaps and cleaning preparations, which increased by US$11.92 million (30.34%).
Exports to China in January 2025 were the largest at US$136.60 million, followed by the United States at US$128.81 million and India at $63.06 million with the contribution of all three reaching 35.73 percent.
According to the main export destination countries in January 2025, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US$328.86 million (35.77%).
