Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one of the indicators to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange rate (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed or for production costs.

In September 2024, the NTP of Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 138.59 or an increase of 1.40 percent compared to the NTP in August 2024, which was 136.68.

The increase in the NTP in September 2024 was due to an increase in the NTP of four sub-sectors, namely the NTP of the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.37 percent, the NTP of the People's Plantation Crops sub-sector by 2.68 percent, the NTP of the Livestock sub-sector by 0.27 percent, and the NTP of the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.41 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of the Horticulture sub-sector decreased by 5.06 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of Sumatera Utara Province in September 2024 was 136.98 or increased by 0.97 percent compared to the NTUP of the previous month.
