Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.
In February 2024, the NTP for Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 130.56 or an increase of 1.09 percent compared to the NTP for January 2024, which was 129.16.
The increase in NTP for February 2024 was caused by an increase in the NTP of three subsectors, namely the NTP for the Food Crops subsector by 0.77 percent, the NTP for the Horticulture subsector by 4.81 percent, and the NTP for the Community Plantation Crops subsector by 1.10 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP for two other subsectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP for the Livestock subsector by 0.30 percent and the NTP for the Fisheries subsector by 1.56 percent.
The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in February 2024 was 129.88 or an increase of 1.53 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
