Abstract

  • The economy of Sumatera Utara based on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) for the second quarter of 2023, at current prices, reached IDR 260.36 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached IDR 149.90 trillion.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter of 2023 grew by 2.88 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the highest growth was in the Government Administration, Defense and Compulsory Social Security Business Fields of 17.67 percent. From the Expenditure side, the Government Consumption Expenditure Component experienced the highest growth of 20.09 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in the second quarter of 2023 against the second quarter of 2022 grew by 5.19 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field experienced the highest growth of 12.29 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the highest growth was in the LNPRT Consumption Expenditure Component of 7.69 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in Semester I-2023 compared to Semester I-2022 grew by 5.03 percent (c-to-c). From the production side, the Transportation and Warehousing Business Field experienced the highest growth of 13.91 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the highest growth was in the LNPRT Consumption Expenditure Component of 7.58 percent.
  • Spatially, the economic structure on Sumatera Island in the second quarter of 2023 was dominated by several provinces, including Sumatera Utara Province which contributed 23.31 percent to GRDP on Sumatera Island; Riau Province at 21.91 percent; South Sumatra Province at 14.22 percent; and Lampung Province by 10.28 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu Province at 2.18 percent.
