Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

In March 2023, Sumatera Utara Province's NTP (2018=100) was recorded at 127.40, up 1.64 percent compared to February 2023's NTP, which was 125.34.

The increase in NTP in March 2023 was due to an increase in the NTP of four sub-sectors, namely the NTP in the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.74 percent, the NTP in the People's Plantation Plants sub-sector by 2.73 percent, the NTP in the Livestock sub-sector by 1.26 percent, and the NTP in the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.29 percent. percent. Meanwhile, the Horticulture sub-sector NTP decreased by 3.33 percent.

Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect rural inflation/deflation rates. In March 2023, there was rural deflation in North Sumatra of 0.25 percent.

The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in March 2023 was 124.83 or an increase of 1.29 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
