Abstract

EXPORT

• The value of exports through the port of loading in the Sumatera Utara region in September 2019 increased compared to August 2019, from US $ 673.99 million to US $ 692.26 million or an increase of 2.71 percent. When compared with September 2018, Sumatera Utara exports decreased by 5.72 percent.
• The increase in Sumatera Utara export value in September 2019 to August 2019 occurred in the animal / vegetable fats and oils group of US $ 57.09 million (23.48%) followed by various chemical products of US $ 5.10 million (7.84%). The decline in export value occurred in rubber and rubber goods by US $ 14.13 million (-13.88%) followed by coffee, tea and spices by US $ 13.40 million (-34.84%).
• Exports to China in September 2019 were the largest at US $ 99.68 million followed by the United States at US $ 83.12 million and India at US $ 71.44 million with the contribution of the three reaching 36.73 percent.
• According to the main export destination countries group in September 2019, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 243.55 (35.18 percent).


IMPORT

• Import value through Sumatera Utara in September 2019 on the basis of CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 398.91 million, or an increase of 16.29 percent compared to August 2019 which reached US $ 343.02 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 13.47 percent.
• Import value by category of goods use in September 2019 compared to August 2019, capital goods rose by 67.43 percent, raw / auxiliary materials rose by 8.83 percent while consumption goods dropped by 1.16 percent.
• In September 2019, the group of goods that experienced the highest increase in import value were machineries / aircraft mechanics at US $ 39.61 million (96.38%), followed by mineral fuels at US $ 15.42 million (67.70%). The categories of goods that experienced a decline in the value of imports were iron and steel objects at US $ 11.52 million (-47.95%) and wheat at US $ 7.69 million (-58.52%).
• September 2019 import value from China was the largest at US $ 117.50 million with its role reaching 29.45 percent of total North Sumatra imports, followed by Japan at US $ 42.99 million (10.78%) and Singapore at US $ 35, 57 million (8.92%).
